someone please help I am in a big big big hurry
Solve by factoring m^2 + 8m +7=0
To factor this, we want to find some a and a such that \[(m+a)(m+b)=m^2+8m+7\]
*some a and some b, sorry!
When we expand that, we get \[(m+a)(m+b)=m^2+(a+b)m+a*b\]
A.) 8,7 B.) -7,1 C.) -7,-1 D.) 7,1
Since our final equation is \[m^2+8m+7\] we want a+b to equal 8, and a * b to equal 7. Can you find an a and b that work?
neither do i lol
im sorry @HarryPotter5777 I am having problems with this unit in school
The other way to solve them would be by plugging your options into your questions and checking whether L.H.S is equal to R.H.S.
im so confused
maybe this will help A. m² + 8m + 7 = 0 Factor: (m + 7) (m + 1) = 0 Set each set equal to 0 m + 7 = 0 m + 1 = 0 And solve: m = -7 AND m = -1 B. c² = 8c Subtract 8c from each side: c² - 8c=0 Factor: (c + 0) (c - 8)=0 Set each set equal to 0 c + 0 = 0 c - 8 = 0 And your answer is: c = 0 AND c = 8
yes thank you
u r welcome
