Which of the following combinations gives a 0.75 m solution of isoamyl salicylate in ethyl alcohol (d = 0.7893 g/mL)? A. 117.2 g isoamyl salicylate in 950.0 mL of ethyl alcohol B. 117.2 g isoamyl salicylate in 750.0 mL of ethyl alcohol C. 117.2 g isoamyl salicylate in 750.0 mL of solution D. 117.2 g isoamyl salicylate in 592.0 g of ethyl alcohol

OpenStudy (spitfire77):

this question is confusing me, if you can help me with this it will help alot

OpenStudy (aaronq):

use the molality formula to work it out \(molality=\dfrac{n_{solute}}{kg_{solvent}}\) you can plug values that stay constant in the question and find the unknown *cough* ethyl alcohol *cough*

OpenStudy (spitfire77):

So would i use the density of the solvent? the .789?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

we'll first find the mass of the solvent, then use the density to find it's volume

OpenStudy (spitfire77):

thanks!
