I'm trying to do my study guide for my DBA for chem. I've been researching and using all my notes but there are a couple questions I don't understand. How line spectra is used to identify elements and what they indicate about atoms? & What are properties of waves and how do these properties apply to the quantum model? Thank you!
When we think of atoms, we can model them as planets around the sun. When an electron moves away from the nucleus, it is absorbing energy. It because unstable when it gets too far from the nucleus and will fall back towards the nucleus, and it releases this energy in the form of light. The electrons do this moving to-and-from the nucleus in different patterns, which causes different colors of light to be release, which gives each element a specific "finger print."
Thank you!
