How many moles of MgS2O3 are in 173g of the compound

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first find the molecular weight of the compound using the periodic table, MgS2O3 molecular weight = (1Mg*24.31)+(2S*32.06)+(3O*16) = 136.43 g/mol Then divide the mass of the compound (173 g) by the molecular weight inorder to cancel the mass units and get the answer. (173g) / (136.43g/mol) = 1.27 mol
