find the position and magnification,m,of the image formed by a concave mirror of focal length 24cm when an object is placed 40cm from the mirror given that m is v/u.

Now here the object distance is -40cm. Since it is a concave mirror the focal length would be negative.thus f=-24cm. Now using the mirror formula, we get v=60cm. this means that the image formed is real and is formed in front of the mirror. also now using the magnification formula which is m=-v/u for mirrors we get magnification =-1.5
