could someone please explain action actual yields percent yields and theoretical yields because I don't understand it

Would you like an example?

Yes

ex: 2Cu + O2 > 2CuO If 25g O2 reacts with Cu, what is the mass of Cu that will form? This is theoretical. 25g O2 / 32 (O2's molar mass) = .78 mol O2 (depending on how you round) .78 mol O2 x 2mol CuO/1mol O2 (you use the coefficients from the balanced equation) = 1.56 mol CuO 1.5 mol CuO x 79.55 (CuO's molar mass) = 124.10 CuO In a lab, a chemist produces 119 g. What is the % yield? 119/124.10 x 100 = 95.89%
