MEDAL AND FAN WILL BE GIVEN! A 30 g car rolls from a hill 12 cm high and is traveling at 154 cm/s as it travels along a 275 cm horizontal track. What is the momentum of the car? A: 360 g cm B: 1848 cm2/s C: 4620 g cm/s D: 8250 g cm

OpenStudy (travisbrown372):

The momentum of the car is the product of its mass and velocity. The mass of the car is 30g = 0.03 kg. The velocity is 154 cm/s = 1.54 m/s. Therefore, the momentum will be 0.03 * 1.54 = 0.0462 kg m/s^2. The height of the hill or the length of the track do not affect the momentum in any way.

OpenStudy (travisbrown372):

Momentum : p = mv, where m is mass and v is velocity. Therefore the momentum of a car with a mass of 1500 kg traveling at 30 m/s is 45,000 kg m/s.
