OpenStudy (aaronq):
write the reaction with water
OpenStudy (aaronq):
a strong acid means that the eq. will lie on the right side of the forward reaction.
OpenStudy (naturesweetie):
Do you mean something like this HCN+H20---- H30+CN-
OpenStudy (aaronq):
yes, exactly
OpenStudy (naturesweetie):
Using the equation would I take the result which is H30+CN- to the answer?

we'll only one of the species of the products is in the questions
OpenStudy (aaronq):
in the answers**
OpenStudy (naturesweetie):
OH- is definitely not the answer.. Nor is HCN+... H+(H30+) is confusing me... It has the H30+ so would that be it?
OpenStudy (aaronq):
yep, \(H^+\) is a shortcut, the species in solution is actually \(H_3O^+\)
OpenStudy (naturesweetie):
Oh duh... I was missing the step in my head... Whoops... Thank you very much!!
