What is the problem that has to be solved? I assume that what you have written is \[_{2}^{4}He \] In simple terms, protons and neutrons are the building blocks of atomic nuclei. Protons have a unit positive charge (+1) and neutrons are electroneutral. There are forces that keep them together, giving a nucleus a positive charge. Electrons, on the other hand, are negatively charged particles (-1), so they are attracted by the positive charge of the nucleus. When the number of protons and the electrons surrounding a nucleus are equal, we get an electrically neutral atom.
