OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the electroconductivity of an element in water and without water? pleaseeeeeeeee help me! low or high?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

as well as the electroconductivity of a metallic element with water?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do elements dissolve in water

OpenStudy (anonymous):

element dissolve only if ionic....the conductivity is high if ionic nt always though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and certain element dissolve

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but if it is just an element

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a neutral element that has no formed bonds

OpenStudy (anonymous):

depends...such as Cl does bt carbon doesn't

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but diatomic Cl would be classified as a non-polar compound since their electronegativity is the same

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks for trying, i have concluded that an element cannot conduct electricity because it can form temporary dipoles and since dipoles have no free charges they cannot conduct electricty but are dissolvable in water

OpenStudy (31356):

Great job everyone! Great observations!

OpenStudy (31356):

Thanks! :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:D

OpenStudy (31356):

:D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

electricity conducts better in water than without

OpenStudy (anonymous):

high with water low without...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

an element wouldn't conduct electricity if its a non-metal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah... it depends on the element...
