Can someone tell me what I did wrong with this Venn diagram?
Ahh, I see the trick in this question. First of all, there are 30 students. Adding up the numbers in Venn Diagram 3, you get a # way over 30. It can't be right.
The problem does state 6 students passed both tests, so you do understand 6 can go in the middle.
However, the two outside bubbles are the number of student who ONLY passed either the chemistry or physics exam.
I just saw that too and am adding them up. so it coild only be venn 1 or venn 2 but that doesnt seem right.
Yes, it does seem right! Take it one step at a time. 20 students passed the chemistry test. Of those 20 students, 6 also passed the physics test and they're in the middle. How many students passed the chemistry test ONLY.
2 students must have not passed neither, right?
Oh I got it now thanks its 2
diagram 2 is correct - there are 2 who passed neither exam
feel like an idiot now
Naaww...that's how you learn :-)
:)
the 2 are placed outside of the circles as you can see
thanks guys
