As we need to minimize use of wrapping paper, i.e. we have to minimize surface area.hence the box should be spherical in shape. Its surface area= 4*pi*(r^2) @oinkoink Please provide the dimension of the gift to be wrapped

8 x 6.

@oinkoink as u have seen in my earlier comment , box need to be spherical in shape to minimize the area . if the gift is rectangular, it will take more space, What I can do is fit it in spherical box.okay?

@heybhai The size of the box I chose is approximately 12x8x4. Therefore, the surface area of the box would be 352 square units. Now I just need help figuring out how much it will cost to wrap the box using the wrapping paper, which costs $0.50 per square inch.

If it was just to calculate the cost of the wrapping paper used I would have simple multiplied the surface area 352 with the cost $0.50 giving me $ 176.00 as answer but I doubt its right.
