MEDAL AND FAN!! Where an item is the price p determined by, p=80x+1600, where x is the quantity of product in kg. When the goods to be insured during transport depends premium (cost of insurance) of Prosen. There are, y=0.05p+50, where y indicates the premium, and p is the price of the item. a)How much does it cost to insure a supply of 800 kg? b) Determine an equation for the premium as a function of the delivered quantity

OpenStudy (anonymous):

.05(80x+1600)+50 (4x+80)+50 4x+130 a) plug in 800kg for x 4(800)+130 = $3,330 I don't understand what they are asking for on part b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@EducateMe hey, it's because i translated it into english. It says Determine an equation for the premium as a function of the delivered quantity

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

So the insurance costs 50 + 5% of the price of the item? Am I understanding correctly?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@whpalmer4 yes, that's what i understood

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

And you are to provide a function which takes x = the quantity purchased (in kg) as the argument, and returns the premium for the insurance?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@whpalmer4 yup!

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

I think that's what @EducateMe gave you \[P(x) = 0.05(80x+1600)+50\]

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

where P(x) is the premium for the insurance on x kg

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@whpalmer4 that might be it, I don't know. But i'll try it. Thanks anyways! :-)
