@mathmale i just did another and want to make sure its right because i was a little confused a bit.

The surface area is found in a manner quite similar to that of the rectangular prism we worked on previously. Your triangular prism appears to have 3 sides which are identical in size (congruent). So you need only calculate the area of 1 side and multiply the result by 3. Then, since the prism has two ends, we'll need to calculate the area of one end and then multiply the result by 2. There's a bit more of a challenge in finding the aera of the triangular ends. What have you done so far in that direction?

kklu: Looking carefully, I see that each of the 3 sides has length 7 and width 3. That 2.6 is not the width; it's the height of the prism, and also the height of the triangle that forms the end of the prism. OK with that?

So, the area of each of the 3 sides of the prism is (length)*(width) = ( ? )( ? ) = ??

Look at the triangle in FRONT (nearest to you). One of its sides has been dimensioned. What is the length of that side?

that's the HEIGHT of the triangle in back; we will need this quantity. But what's the LENGTH of the triangle in front? Only one dimension is given, so we' re going to assume that this is an equilateral triangle (with all sides equal).
