OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which of the following contains ionic bonding? a. H2O2 b. CaO c. CO32- d. P2O5 I do not understand how we can determine this, so can you also explain why?

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

for the ionic bond to form the electronegative difference between the ions forming that compound should be more than 1.6 , if its less than 1.6 mainly coverlet bond will be formed:)

OpenStudy (gebooors):

A crude way to determine ionic compound is that it contains a metal ion (cation, e.g. Na+) and an anion which is an ion formed from non-metal (e.g. Cl-) or a group of different elements (\[NO _{3} ^{-}\]. However, \[NH _{4}\] is a cation.
