Match the sequence (term) with the correct type of sequence (definition). (4 points) abcd 1. 128, 32, 8, 2, ... abcd 2. 1, 3, 9, 27, ... abcd 3. 5, 10, 15, 20, ... abcd 4. 20, 17, 14, 11, ... a. Arithmetic, common difference is 5 b. Geometric, common ratio is 0.25 c. Geometric, common ratio is 3 d. Arithmetic, common difference is -3

Do you know what arithmetic and geometric progressions are?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

NO :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

An arithmetic progression is one that increases by a fixed amount each time. For example: 1, 2, 3, 4, ... A geometric progression is one which is multiplied by a fixed amount each time. For example: 5, 10, 20, 40, ... With that in mind, looking at the sequences you have and applying a little bit of common sense (what do you imagine common difference/ratio mean?) you should be able to match them to the sequence definitions.
