OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

I am confused. How come when you add an extra electron, you get a negative charge, but when you add a hydrogen to a conjugate base, like NH3, why do you get NH4+?

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

@AccessDenied Can you help? Also, on that last problem, I never got it...I still can't see it on here.

OpenStudy (accessdenied):

The hydrogen atom that is added has no outer electron, it is simply a proton. The overall charge of the NH3 molecule was 0, then a positive hydrogen proton is added which has charge +1. The total charge becomes 0+1= +1 I don't remember what you are referring to... o.o

OpenStudy (amtran_bus):

Thanks! It was another ? I posted eariler. No worries.

OpenStudy (accessdenied):

strange.. okay. you're welcome! :)
