How many isomers are possible for [Co(en)2 SCN NO2 ]Cl ?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

This might help, knowing the strucutre. |dw:1396882476861:dw|

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Remember, there's cis isomer, trans isomer, etc.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ya, and cis is optically active. So for cis no. Of isomers should be 2X2X2 = 8 ( as SCN and NO2 show linkage isomerism). And for trans it should be 4 ( no optical isomerism). So total should be 12. I wonder why the answer is given as 24.....

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Well, you can rearrange the dentate, I assume. But overall, you would still have the same structure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

en plus il existe des isomeries optiques .. car il n y a pas un element de symetrie ................... isomeris de liaison aussi entre (SCN et NCS ) et (NO2 et ONO ) ........... isomerie structurale (changement ) entre NO2 et Cl par example [Co(en)2 SCN Cl ]NO2 ................ isomeries giometriques Cis Trans ........ so totaly is over of 10 isoms -----(the text is in french)-----
