heeelllp anyone .!!! two urns contain white balls and yellow balls. the first urn contains 2 white balls and 7 yellows balls and the secound urn contains 3 white balls and 10 yellow balls. a ball is drawn at random from each urm. what is the probability that both balls are white.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A) 5/117 B)5/22 C)2/39 D)1/6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how many yellow balls are in the 2nd urn?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10 and sorry bout that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the prob of drawing a white ball from the first urn is number of white balls over the total number of balls (2/9) ; the prob of drawing a white ball from the 2nd urn is the number of white balls in it over the total number of balls.(3/13). Since these are independent events (the drawing from one urn has no effect on the drawing from the 2nd urn), you would multiply the two probabilities together.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2/9 x 3/13

alright i got C :)

good job!!!
