what does the word infinitive mean?

the basic form of a verb, without an inflection binding it to a particular subject or tense (e.g., see in we came to see, let him see ).
Infinite in the sense of linguistics is coined as opposed to "finite"
Infinite means that it is not bounded by person and number
Infinitive is for example "to see", "to run" as opposed to "sees", "runs", ...
Note that the word "see" in "we see" is not an infinitive.

But the word "see" in "we help him see" is an infinitive.
this means that it hasn't declined yet with a pronoun (verb source) for instance>>>> (play) is in infinitive (he plays)now this is a declension of the infinitive verb play with (he) pronoun
