How do I calculate the concentrations of HCl, in moles, (C1V1=C2V2), if I begin with 5mL of 0.1M HCl and dilute with 5mL of H2O.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

\(\underbrace{C_1V_1}_{old}=\underbrace{C_2V_2}_{new}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is V2 5mL or 10mL?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

\(V_2\) is the new (combined) volume, 10 mL. By the way, for this question it doesn't matter, you always have to use the same units.

Thank you.
