I did a lab and it asks me to calculate this but I don't know what numbers to use. a. the total number of moles of each species in the buffer; b. the initial concentrations of acetic acid and acetate ion in the buffer; c. the theoretical number of moles of OH– needed to change the pH by one unit; d. the actual number of moles of OH– added to change the pH by one unit; e. the theoretical number of moles H3O+ needed to change the pH by one unit; f. the actual number of moles of H3O+ added to change the pH by one unit.
did you make the buffer by weighing out different substances, like sodium acetate and acetic acid?
we were already working with pH=5,4,6. We just added amounts of sodium acetate and acetic acid and mix them with either hydrochloric acid or sodium hydroxide
