Calculate the energy in calories that is required to change 15.0 g of ice at -10.0 degrees C to 15.0 g of liquid water at 0.0 degrees C

OpenStudy (accessdenied):

Do you know about specific heat and heat of fusion? This looks like a two-step problem: How much energy for the temperature change from -10 to 0 degrees C? How much energy for the phase change from solid ice to liquid water? And we would add both together, making sure to convert to the same units..

OpenStudy (hopehope118):

Oh I get it now. My teacher never explained this part. Thank you very much
