5. We can use the periodic table to determine which atoms are most likely to lose or gain electrons during the formation of an ionic bond. True False 7. Which of the following best characterizes an ionic bond? developed by sharing electrons developed by transfer of electrons developed between two non-metals developed when a compound contains carbon @wolfe8
Can you tell me what you think and why first?
i don't know honestly :/
Alright let me jog your memory. What do the columns and rows of the periodic table represent?
groups?
Well the columns represent rows, but why are elements placed in the same group? Think of electrons.
they have a positive charge?
No that's not it. Elements in the same group have the same number of valence electrons. So from the table, we can know how many valence electrons elements have, and what they will most probably do (remove or add electrons) in reactions.
oh ok, so would my answer be true for 5?
Yup. For the second one, look up the meaning of ionic bond
its B
Yup
thanks for the help(:
No problem. Have a good night.
