How many electrons occupy the Px orbitals of Hg

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

The Px orbital is one of three orbitals in the P subshell. And, only 2 electrons can occupy an orbital. So, 2 I suppose. I hope this isn't a trick question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, okay, so if there is 4 p orbitals total in the electron configuration of Hg, then it would be 2 x 4, which would be 8?

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

There are only 3 orbitals in the p subshell, 2 electrons to each orbitals, so 6 electrons can be in the p subshell.
