What we're looking for is the line AE + ED Firstly, we know that side BE is obviously the same length as side CD, 30 cm. In addition, we know that tan(theta) = Opposite/Adjacent So, tan(30 degrees) = ED/BE. Since we know BE = 30 we have 30tan(30 degrees) = Side ED which equals Sqrt(3)/3 Next, we have tan(45 degrees) =AE/BE. So, we have 30*tan(45 degrees) = Side AE which equals 30. Therefore, side AD = 30((sqrt(3)/3 + 1) which is approximately equal to 47.32 cm.
