If the torque required to loosen a nut holding a wheel on a car is 33 N · m, what force must be exerted at the end of a 0.25 m lug wrench to loosen the nut when the angle is 57◦ ? Answer in units of N

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Torque = force x lever arm length here, the angle seems irrelevent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Torque = force * lever-arm-length * sin(the acute angle between arm and force) so: 33=F*0.25*sin(57°) solving for F gives: F=157 N
