OpenStudy (elleblythe):

Solid ammonium nitrate decomposes explosively to form nitrogen gas, oxygen gas, and water vapor. Assume 100% yield. How many moles and grams of each of the three products are produced when 3.00 g of ammonium nitrate decomposes? I already solved for the mol of the 3.00g of Ammonium Nitrate but how do I solve for the moles and grams of each product produced?

OpenStudy (gebooors):

You need equation for reaction.

OpenStudy (gebooors):

NH4NO3 -> N2 + O2 + H2O Can you balance this?

OpenStudy (gebooors):

I think it is 2 NH4NO3. -> 2 N2 + 1 O2 + 4 H2O

OpenStudy (gebooors):

Number of moles of N2 is same as NH4NO3. Thus m(N2)= n * M

OpenStudy (elleblythe):

what do you mean by "m(N2)= n* M??? @Gebooors
