Can Someone Tell Me if I Got Think Right? il Metal! Choose the graph below that correctly represents the equation 3x - 4y = 12.
i chose the third on down cx
convert the equation to slope intercept form
i did everything already i just wanted to know if i graphed it right
it think its this one but i want to make sure
The correct answer is the fourth graph. Slope = 3/4; y-intercept = -3.
no the equation of the line is y=3/4x-3
im confused /:
@ganeshie8 could u help?
3x - 4y = 12 4y = 3x - 12 y = (3/4)x - 3
i need help graphing.! not all of this ;-;
@johnweldon1993 can you save me ?
The slope is 3/4 and the y intercept is (0,-3) NOW GRAPH IT YOU NEED THE EQUATION TO GRAPH
please do yell at me again, i asked for help, not for you to be a douche. k? thanks
what? i am not yelling i am just saying that you cant just graph an equation in standard form so appreciate @shiraz14 's work
Alright so yeah 3x - 4y = 12 We need to represent this in terms of y. we want y = something...so subtract 3x from both sides... -4y = -3x + 12 and divide both sides by -4 y = (3/4)x - 3 So since this is in slope intercept form (y = mx + b) in THAT equation....'m' represents the slope of the graph...and 'b' represents the y-intercept (where the graph passes through the y-axis) So match that with your equation y = mx + b y = (3/4)x - 3 Looks like the slope = (3/4) and the y-intercept = -3 So we will have a graph that starts... |dw:1397842977330:dw| There The graph you chose...had the y-intercept at y = 3....not y = -3.... see where I'm getting that? @Courtneydyrdek98
i hate math lol XD
And now...since the slope is \(\large \frac{3}{4}\) we know that slope= \(\large \frac{rise}{run}\) so you would go up 3 units.....and then to the right 4 units... Looks like graph D would be correct
i have a question not having to deal with this
Shoot :)
|dw:1397843207468:dw|
this is a undefined slope right?
Correct...a vertical line has an infinite slope...thus undefined
thank youu <3
Anytime :)
