How much MnO2(s) should be added to excess HCl(aq) to obtain 115 mL of Cl2(g) at 25 °C and 775 Torr?

OpenStudy (accessdenied):

I think we will need to determine a balanced reaction between MnO2 and HCl that produces Cl2 among other products. We can find the moles of gas produced by the Ideal Gas Law: PV = n RT. We have pressure = 775 Torr, T = 25+273 K, and V = 0.115 L. Keep the units consistent so that you can find n, moles of gas. Then the equation you should have found from above will give you the ability to find the mole ratio using coefficients on MnO2 and Cl2. That lets you convert to moles MnO2. Then you are able to convert it to any other mass unit you need using molar mass, if needed..
