What do elements in the same column of the Periodic Table usually have in common? A. same number of electron shells B. same number of electrons in their outer shells C. same atomic mass D. same atomic number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Atomic number is the amount of protons, and atomic number varies going down a column. Electron shells also varies going down. Same atomic mass would imply that p+n is the same, which doesn't really happen. But B is true. Because the row number is how many electrons they have in their outer shell.
