When magnesium (Mg) reacts with oxygen (O2) to form magnesium oxide (MgO) and the reaction equation is balanced, what is the number in front of oxygen?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Your equation should look like this: 2Mg + O2 -> 2MgO I'm sure you can figure out the answer from this equation. What is the coefficient for O2? If there's not any present, you can safely assume the number is 1 :)
