NOCL decomposes to form nitric oxide and chlorine, all in the gaseous state. At a given temperature 0.150 moles of nitric oxide gas, .100 moles of chlorine gas, and 0.350 moles of nitrosyl chloride are placed in a 10.0 L flask. At equilibrium .250 moles of nitrosyl chloride are present. How many moles of chlorine gas are also present at equilibrium?

OpenStudy (jfraser):

start with a balanced reaction, and use the coefficients to find the moles of the reactant that is used and the products that are made

ok then what?

OpenStudy (jfraser):

you know the starting amounts of the reactants, and you know the final amounts of all but one. a little well placed subtraction will tell you what the moles of chlorine gas are.
