Correct now lets look at quadratic equations, |dw:1398124197900:dw|As you can see the graph isn't straight its a parabola (u-shaped line). Because when you plug in any value of x (negative or positive) into x^2, it will always be positive, that's why in both directions its always going up. Does that make sense? Think of this, if you plug in -5 into x^2=> -5*-5=? and when you plug 5 into x^2=>5*5=? what number do they equal to?
