Projectile Motion Question...

OpenStudy (agent_a):

The height (in feet) of the ball obeys the function \[h(t)=96+32t-16t^2\] where the time is expressed in seconds. At what speed will the ball hit the ground?

OpenStudy (agent_a):

This is my answer: \[h'(3.45)=32-32(3.45) = -78.4 \frac{ ft. }{ \sec. }\] But I wanted to clarify if it was right or wrong. The equation I used was the derivative of h(t), and the t value (i.e., 3.45). I arrived at from using the Quadratic Formula.

OpenStudy (agent_a):

Or is this a trick question, because the ball will hit the ground at zero speed....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe it should be t = 3.64 96+32(t)−16(t)^2 = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

everything else appears correct, just fix you time ^_^

@DemolisionWolf: I actually figured everything out on my own and caught that error as well, but Thanks for clarifying it! :-) I'll still reward you "Best Response".
