Suppose you have 2 l of 2 M methane and the same amount of chlorine. Lets also say that both are liquids since that is the optimal state for reaction. Assuming the rate is constant at each step of this free radical reaction can you figure out the molarity of each compound that will form?

CH4+CL2----HCL +CH3CL 1mol 1mol if there is molarity yes must be liquid(liquid solution)

okay. How come the molarity divides equally between the number of products and doesn't stay constant?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and wouldn't 1 eq of chlorine be enough since Cl2 keeps being formed as you get longer and longer alkanes and that it is really the amount of methane that needs to be taken into consideration more than the chlorine?
