please help me:) ill give medal What is the discontinuity of the function

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[f(x)= \frac{ x^2-3x-28 }{ x+4 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

same as the domain \(x=-4\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you can factor and cancel, then it is a "removable discontinuity"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@satellite73 these are my choices (-7, -14) (7, 0) (4, -3) (-4, -11) its not c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@phi can you help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would it be d?

OpenStudy (phi):

are you sure you have the correct question (and no typos?)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep

OpenStudy (phi):

ok, they want what x value is a discontinuity, and the associated y value as satellite already told you, x=-4 is not allowed (because you would divide by 0 if x=-4) However, as x gets near to -4, f(x) gets near to -11 that means (-4,-11) is what they want

OpenStudy (phi):

With multiple choice all you had to do was look for x=-4 in the choices (the answers are all (x,y) pairs)... and only one choice has x=-4 If you had two or more choices with x=-4, you would have to figure out the y value.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

van you help me with one more? ive narrowed it down to two

OpenStudy (phi):

Can you make it a new post ?
