Q 7.18: A 2-kg block is attached to a horizontal ideal spring with a spring constant of 200 N/m. The spring is stretched to a length of 10 cm from its equilibrium position and released. What is the speed of the block when it arrives back at the equilibrium position?

A 10 m/s B 1.0 m/s C 0.50 m/s D 50 m/s

I know that the restoring force is -20N and that acceleration is -10 m/s/s, but not sure how that applies.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you know the acceleration and the distance then you can calculate velocity easily..

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

It is much easier to compare the energies at the two positions, than going through the actual differential equation.
