Buffer question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got part a. but don't know how to start for part b. anyone can guide me??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know the equation to caluclate the pH for a weak acid?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok sorry my bad, whats your answer for part a)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

did u get 3.85?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@chmvijay ?

Miracrown (miracrown):

Looks like part b you would use a henderson-hasselbalch equation?

Miracrown (miracrown):

So I'm thinking we'll be using the pOH version of the Henderson Hasselbalch, pH = 7 is the same as pOH = 7. Then we have pKb already

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah what about the conc of acid and salt

Miracrown (miracrown):

We're adding HCl to our base of Lidocaine We have a concentration of HCl, which is 0.5M

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what about the salt then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you write the equation?

Miracrown (miracrown):

SInce we already have the LIdocaine, then we'd need to find out how much HCl we'll need... |dw:1398936806331:dw|
