@eashmore
i was just wondering if this type of problem uses the P=F/A formula.
I also dont know how to solve for force if the equation above is the one we use...
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I'd approach it by finding the volume of the cube, and then using that and the density of water to find the mass of the water in that cube. Multiply by gravity.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so dont use P=F/A?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
A=area
OpenStudy (anonymous):
What's the volume of a cube?
V=?

V= s^3
OpenStudy (anonymous):
s=10 right?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Oh, sorry, I slightly misread the question. We're already given the volume.
What's the density of water?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
1000.00 kg/m^3 right?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Right. So how many kilograms of water do we have?

uh... 1000?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Mass = Volume * Density
OpenStudy (anonymous):
\[1.0\times10^{-6}kg\]
right?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Mass = (1000 m^3)(1000 kg/m^3)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes i know and i posted what i got

1.0 x 10^6
(you had -6)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
o sorry my bad...
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ya it says to the 6th power my bad
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Now, Force = mass x acceleration
The only acceleration there would be, is gravity. So what's the force?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
\[9.81\times10^{6}N\]
right?
