I really need help with question that is below. It is about enzymes and binding sites. If someone could explain the answer to these questions it would be amazing!

What are the effects of the competitive inhibitor binding to the active site of an answer and why? The illustration below is with this question in my book. And why is penicillin is effective in killing most bacteria?

Well as the competitive inhibitor binds to active site of an enzyme, substrates cannot bind into it anymore because competitive inhibitor blocks a way. So less enzyme-substrate complex is formed Penicillin function by preventing synthesis of the cross-links between the peptidoglycan polymer in the cell wall of bacteria. BUT they are only active against bacteria and only while they are growing. But now many type of bacteria have enzymes for destroying penicillin and so are resistant to these antibiotics
