what is the approximate volume of the sphere?
|dw:1399407409138:dw|
Do you know the formula for volume of a sphere? \( V = \dfrac{4}{3} \pi r^3 \) If you wanted to approximate, you could use the approximation of pi, \(\pi \approx 3.14 \), or any other common approximation of pi that you normally use in class (22/7, 3.1415.. etc)
i got 294.911?
I got something different. What did you plug in for your information? r = ? pi = ?
r i put 1.59? or is it 5? pi i put 3.14
The radius is half the diameter, which is 10 meters. So radius = 10/2 = 5 m. :)
oh alright. i keep trying different ways, but cannot end up with the answer?
If we put in r=5, and pi = 3.14. 4/3 * 3.14 * 5^3 We could simplify that 5^3 = 5*5*5 = 125 4/3 * 3.14 * 125 We could use a calculator here. That is clear?
yes.
OH, would it be 523.33?
Yep, that is what I got as well. :)
Sure, that's fine.
It looks like the website hit another snag. I saw your question as "Find the surface area of the [same] sphere" Which means, we want to use the surface area formula: S = 4 pi r^2 Same numbers in as before: r=5, pi = 3.14
