\[\frac{a-c}{x-a} = m\] First, you need to find any restrictions on the variables. Those restrictions keep the denominator of this expression from being 0. That means any value of \(x\) that makes \(x-a=0\) is a restricted value. To solve the equation, I would multiply both sides by the denominator \((x-a)\). Then use the distributive property to remove any parentheses, and solve for \(x\) by adding, subtracting and dividing as necessary.
