@Burningitdown Putting in "extra" numbers like that tests your understanding of the concepts at hand, by forcing you to recognize which numbers are essential to solving the problem, and which are not. Here, for example, you need to recognize that the height is 35 inches, and not the 44 inches you might (erroneously) take as the height if the 35 inches hadn't been marked on the diagram. It is good to be suspicious when it looks like you might not be using "all of the pieces" but at the same time you need to understand that often you won't be using them all.
