Evaluate the logarithm to four decimal places: log9 123
well, there probably isn't a log(base 9) button on your calculator, so use the conversion formula to ln
there is
a LOG button on my calculator. Im using my phone. So I hit LOG(9) then what?
117.371
??
um... I think that's log(base 10) that's what the button on the calc is
the LOG button on a calculator always does base 10 by default
ohhh okay. So is it better to use the LN?
you can get around that with a conversion formula just do LOG(123)/LOG(9) or you can do LN(123)/LN(9) the rule is log(the number)/log(the base)
amazingly you will get the same answer either way!
ohhh I see perfect. I remember him saying that in class.
so something like 2.19...... of course round it to however many dec you need
2.190 is this what you got?
haha perfect!
needs more decimal places so 2.1972
I think the phone calculators have rounding errors sometimes
I have to check out, but good luck!
take care!
