At a fabrication plant, a hot metal forging has a mass of 70.6 kg and a specific heat capacity of 333 J/kgCo. To harden it, the forging is quenched by immersion in 698 kg of oil that has a temperature of 26.6oC and a specific heat capacity of 2610 J/kgCo. The final temperature of the oil and forging at thermal equilibrium is 39.8oC. Assuming that heat flows only between the forging and the oil, determine the initial temperature of the forging. (enter only the numerical portion of the temperature in oC)

i believe its q=nR(delts T)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i mean delta

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got that. But I'm not sure which values to substitute for both sides when it comes to delta T.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how about 39.8-26.6 for the metal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What would it be for the oil?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we need the start temp
