electron lewis structure for clf3
Hello @ebydaqueen19 - The electron lewis structure for \(Cl F_3\) can be drawn by first knowing, the no. of valence electrons in Cl and F
Can you tell me, how much valence electrons are there in Cl and F ?
sorrry i took so long
i believe there are 28 electrons total?
Yes, there are 28 electrons total. AS : Chlorine (Cl) has 7 valence electrons And Fluorine (F) has also 7 valence electrons
Cl will share its one electron with each fluorine, since, there are 3 fluorine atoms, so, Cl will share 3 electrons with Fluorine atoms. Also, Chlorine had 7 valence electrons, so (7-3) = 4 electrons... That is, 4 electrons are not bonded. So, they will be represented like given in the above figure (paired ones)
thank you very much
You're welcome :)
hi are u still there
i have another question
Hello ebydaqueen19, Yes, I am here. What is your question? Have you posted it as another post?
