A step down transformer is connected to main supply 200 V to operate a 6 V, 30 W bulb. The current in primary is ?

OpenStudy (kropot72):

Assuming the transformer has no losses, the primary : secondary turns ratio is equal to the primary: secondary voltage ratio = 200:6. The current in the secondary is 30/6 = 5 A. The primary current is found by dividing the secondary current by the turns ratio: \[I _{p}=\frac{5\times6}{200}=you\ can\ calculate\]
