A large emerald with a mass of 378.24 grams was recently discovered in a mine. If the density of the emerald is 3.91grams over centimeters squared, what is the volume? Round to the nearest hundredth when necessary and only enter numerical values, which can include a decimal point

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry i just saw the tag, They gave you the density and the mass and we know the equation to be " Density =\[Mass \div Volume \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now since they want the volume this time, we can cross multiply\[Density =\frac{ Mass }{ Volume } which gives , Density \times Volume = mass\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but again they want the volume not the mass so we than \[Volume= \frac{ Mass }{ Density }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Than you just substitute the numbers you were given which would be\[Volume = \frac{ 378.24 grams }{3.91g/cm ^{3} }\]

Than find the answer with only two digits after the decimal
