An ant looks up to the top of a building at an angle of elevation of 32°. Then, the ant walks an additional 88 feet from the edge of the building. If the new angle of elevation from the ant to the top of the building is 22°, find the height of the building. Round the answer to the nearest tenth. A. 100.6 feet B. 125.4 feet C. 145.2 feet D. 189.8 feet
good so far? |dw:1400270570040:dw|
yes
@texaschic101
this question looks like we will have to use multiple equations to solve
do you have the choices of answers?
break this into two triangles: |dw:1400271710751:dw| apply the pythagorean theorem to it, so x^2 + h^2 = b^2 then apply the trig function sin() sin(32) = h/b now make up two similar equation but for the other right triangle
the answer was 100.6
thats what I got aswell
do you understand how to get that? (i have to log off really soon fyi)
